Position: Assistant Librarian
Job Description:
The Assistant Librarian will be responsible for the overall operation of the Town of Fitzwilliam library. This position will work with the Director of Libraries and the Board of Trustees to ensure that the library is running smoothly and providing excellent service to our patrons. This position will also assist in developing and implementing new library programs and services, including but not limited to, cataloging, microfilm, database management, and other administrative tasks. Responsible for a variety of technical and administrative support tasks related to primary library functions(circulation operations, collection maintenance, direct patron interface) Assists with children's programming and supports the development and delivery of adult programming; performs all other related work as required. Knowledge of the Town of Fitzwilliam and its governance; direct experience as a Fitzwilliam Town Library patron preferred
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of all library materials for public use.
- Assist patrons with ordering and receiving library materials.
- Assist patrons with cataloging and microfilm management of Fitzwilliam, NH’s holdings.
- Perform general administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Libraries.
- Support the development of new programs and services as needed by the Board of Trustees.
- Maintain a current inventory of books, periodicals, DVDs, etc., in the library.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Libraries or Board of Trustees.
Required Skills:
·Excellent oral and written communication skills.
·Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
·Able to work independently with little supervision or under minimal supervision.
·Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
·Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Pro (X-Cart) or similar software.
·Proficient in database management practices including Microsoft Access, Oracle, or equivalent database software. Knowledge in using general cataloging practices preferred. Knowledge in using microfilm management practices preferred. Knowledge in using social media management preferred. Knowledge in using website management preferred. Knowledge in using electronic publishing preferred.
