Join our team! The Flower Mound Police Department is accepting applications for Police Officer Recruits. Must love making a difference in people's lives, serving the community, and working with a great team. The Recruit is a non-sworn Police Department employee in a trainee capacity. Incumbents are required to attend a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certified academy to develop the minimum qualifications necessary to assume a position as a sworn police officer.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
WORK ACTIVITIES: • Attends and successfully completes all required phases of basic training through a certified Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) academy.• Operates and maintains vehicle and personal equipment.• Attends training activities and receives classroom and field instruction in job related subjects.• Maintains a positive, friendly and effective working relationship with the general public and co-workers.• Reports any unsafe, hazardous, or perilous conditions to proper authority.• Adheres to the personnel, safety, and departmental policies, procedures, and Administrative Orders.• Informs supervisor of all work activities.• Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES: Bilingual skills are preferred.Must have excellent communicative skills, both oral and written.Must be able to communicate courteously and effectively with other people and maintain a pleasant and friendly personality; exercise good judgment and make competent decisions in all activities; work flexible hours and accept on-call duty status; and maintain confidentiality with criminal and investigative information.HIPAA COMPLIANCE STATEMENT: All employees who have access to health information whose confidentiality is protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule must have an understanding and knowledge of the Privacy Rule that corresponds to their job responsibilities. Employees who violate the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination.****HIRING PROCESS: Written Examination measuring the ability to learn police information, observation and memory, written communication, reading comprehension, and analytical ability. Information regarding the optional practice test and study guide will be sent out after the invitations to test have been sent. ***The written exam will be held Wednesday, March 5th at 3pm at Flower Mound PD ***2000 Meter Row Evaluation (Applicants must pass at the 50th percentile based on standardized age and gender norms using the Concept 2 Rower.)Interview with Background InvestigatorOral Review BoardBackground Investigation (Applicants who successfully pass this step will be given a Conditional Offer of Employment)Polygraph ExaminationPsychological EvaluationMedical Examination / Drug ScreenThe order of the steps may vary according to departmental needs and schedules. If you have been disqualified or were previously disqualified from the hiring process, you may still be eligible to apply to this position. The length of time you are disqualified depends on the reason for which you were disqualified. If you failed the written test, physical fitness, or the Oral Board, you are eligible to reapply to the next posting. You are eligible to reapply after one year if you failed the psychological examination. Any other disqualification may have resulted in a minimum disqualification of one year or possible permanent disqualification.
