BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Program Coordinator, under supervision of the Recreation Director, will be responsible for administrative tasks, such as attendance records, behavior records, and first aid records etc. The Program Coordinator will support the counselors with their day-to-day needs, in addition to providing support with program development, planning, and execution. The Program Coordinator may be responsible for corresponding with parents regarding their children’s experience while enrolled in the specific program and other responsibilities as directed by the Recreation Director. It is the responsibility of the Recreational Coordinator to supervise all staff, communicate with parents, and ensure the safety of all the children in attendance. It is important that the Coordinator model the behavior expected of the children attending the program. It is essential that the Director observes the behavior of both staff and campers, assesses its appropriateness, and enforces appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures. The Program Coordinator is expected to apply appropriate behavior management techniques and build relationships with parents to best serve the youth.
PART-TIME POSITION
WORK SCHEDULE: VARIESEXAMPLES OF JOB DUTIES:
• Responsible for overseeing and facilitating a program including planning, implementing and coordinating of daily activities, weekly activity plans,
and supply requests
• Plan, implement and supervise participants on field.
• Coordinate supplies needed for programs and request and/or purchase supplies as needed.
• Maintain safe environment for all participants and visitors.
• Lead games, activities, arts and craft and encourage participants.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness and good working order of all Recreation facilities and equipment.
• Represent the Recreation Department: effectively communicates and interacts with program participants, fellow staff, parents and general public.
• Maintain positive and cordial working relationship staff and Recreation Director.
• Meet regularly with Recreation Director Recreation staff to give updates on assigned programs.
• This position will deal with a variety of confidential issues that will require discretion at all times.
• Must have ability to give direction in a positive, decisive and cordial manner to staff, participants and parents.SPECIAL TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Upon hire, completion of First Aid and CPR certification. Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities. Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision. Strong organization and communication skills. Ensure that the areas are clean, organized, and free of litter. Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Director. Maintain accurate program records including incident reports, medical sheets, and daily attendance. Candidates must have valid driver license and a working phone.
EDUCATION:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be high school graduate or equivalent. Requires previous experience working with youth, volunteers and supervising youth recreation activities is desirable or any equivalent combination of experience and education to provide the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the work required of this position.
PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with and or supervising children required. Experience supervising staff preferred. Education classes or experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field recommended.
