The Grounds Maintenance Operator is an hourly / non-exempt position that performs a variety of duties involved in the daily operations of the Public Works Department. This position will be expected to operate a variety of equipment in the areas of maintenance, repair, construction, and replacement of Town owned sidewalks, recreation paths, parks, buildings, grounds, playgrounds, sport facilities, cemetery system, and streets.

Maintenance Operator hiring wage range = $23.11 - $28.38

Maintenance Operator full wage range = $23.11 - $33.65

Responsibilities

  • Operates Town equipment as directed by supervisor. This may include, but is not limited to motor grader, dump truck, wheel loader, skid steer loader, street sweeper, municipal tractor, backhoe, pick-up truck, utility vehicle and other related heavy equipment.
  • Operates equipment and power tools related to landscape maintenance. Operates hand and power tools related to daily maintenance, repair, and construction.
  • Will handle basic daily maintenance of equipment.
  • During the winter, this position is responsible for snow removal and de-icing on all Town owned streets, sidewalks, recreation paths, parkinglots, and performs ice rink maintenance.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials and equipment.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
  • Provides preventative equipment maintenance inspections such as pre / post trips, checking fluids, etc. Reports any problems in a timely manner to the Fleet Supervisor and Vehicle Technicians.
  • May be required to supervise seasonal employees.
  • Performs multiple duties as it pertains to Town sponsored special events such as; set-up, tear down, trash & street sweeping.

  • Ability to function and make good decisions in the absence of a supervisor.
  • Communicates with Town of Frisco employees, citizens, customers and vendors in a professional, courteous and timely manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Performs other job duties / responsibilities as assigned by management.

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Additional coursework from a trade or technical school is preferred.
  • Computer Operations :

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, UKG and basic computer operations.
  • Licenses, Certifications or Accreditations :

  • CDL Class "B" is required upon hire.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required.
  • CPR, AED, First Aid Certification required (Provided by the Town)
  • Previous Work Experience :

  • Three years of experience operating motorized vehicles & equipment required.
  • Landscaping related experience preferred.
  • Snow removal related experience preferred.

    Holidays / Weekends / Evenings :

    Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, nights, special events, and on call. Typical summer schedule is Monday - Friday, 7 : 00am - 3 : 30pm. Typical winter schedule is 6am - 2 : 30pm but can vary depending on weather / storm.

    Equipment Used in Job :

    CDL Class "B" is required upon hire.

    Must be capable of operating a variety of equipment, hand & power tools normally

    found in Public Works operations, maintenance, and construction. Must be capable of safely maneuvering all vehicles and equipment.

    Other :

    This position is subject to the Town of Frisco's Drug and Alcohol Workplace policy which includes : pre-employment physical and Drug / Alcohol testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty and follow-up testing.
