Job Summary
The Geddes Police Department is seeking an experienced and highly qualified transfer applicant to fill an immediate need for Police Officer. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage conflicts effectively, and a proactive approach to loss prevention and surveillance.
Duties
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity while ensuring public safety.
- Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, and incidents requiring police intervention.
- Conduct thorough investigations of crimes, accidents, and other incidents; gather evidence and prepare detailed reports.
- Engage with community members to build trust and foster positive relationships.
- Enforce traffic laws and regulations; issue citations as necessary.
- Provide assistance in conflict management situations, utilizing de-escalation techniques when appropriate.
- Maintain proficiency in law enforcement practices, including CPR, first aid, and animal handling.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations as needed.
Experience
Candidates must be NYS DCJS Police Officer certified and eligible for transfer as a Police Officer according to NYS and local Civil Service rules and laws.
