The Town of Gibsonville is seeking three (3) part-time Office Assistants to provide
administrative support to staff in the Gibsonville Recreation Office operations and
program implementation.
Responsibilities include answering phones, cash register operation, customer
service, and other duties as assigned. Requires a High School diploma and a valid
NC driver’s license. Office and customer service experience preferred.
2 Positions - Hiring rate is $17.60/hourly for approx. 16-19 hours, Monday-Friday
1 Position – Hiring rate is $17.60/hourly for 10-15 hours on the weekend.
This is a non-benefited part-time position available to work day and evening shifts
as well as some weekends, special events and programs as needed.

OFFICE ASSISTANT (Part Time)
General Statement of Duties
Performs varied clerical and administrative support work.
Distinguishing Features of the Class
An employee in this class performs clerical tasks which vary according to the department to which assigned.
Some initiative and judgment are required, as are tact and courtesy in dealing with the public. Work is performed
under established policies and procedures, although employees may develop and refine working practices for
themselves to meet the needs of the department. Employee must make decisions regarding prioritizing work and
setting deadlines. Work is performed independently as the schedule and routine dictates much of the work of the
position. The potential for error exists in making error on a report due to distractions of multiple assignments.
Public contact is described as responding to telephone inquiries and/or complaints. The employee talks with
individuals and determines the situation and decides to which department or employee the matter should be
forwarded. Work is performed under regular supervision and progress is checked through review of reports.

Answers phones and welcomes visitors to office.
Receives requests and complaints from citizens, and relays requests to appropriate individuals.
Cash receipts and accepts payments for programs.
Types correspondence, reports, and other materials.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands of Work
Work is performed in a controlled climate with little or no exposure to natural elements or hazardous conditions.
Visits to field sites or driving a vehicle an automobile may be required. Work is described as sedentary work:
exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift,
carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The worker is required to have close
visual acuity to perform preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, data entry at
computer terminal, and extensive reading.
Education and Experience
Graduation from high school and some basic work experience sufficient to meet the knowledge, skills and abilities
required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
