T eam Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Wastewater Operations Apprentice With every job we fill, our focus is on providing best in class service to our citizens while offering the opportunity for professional growth in a rewarding and innovative work environment.

The Wastewater Operations Apprentice will learn to perform the essential functions of inspection, operational, maintenance and repair of wastewater pretreatment, collection, reuse and recharge systems over a six-month program, after which, the candidate may move internally into a vacant Wastewater position of their interest.

The Wastewater Operations Apprentice reports to the Pre-treatment Program Coordinator. The primary job duties of this position include :

Learn the proper construction, maintenance and repair techniques and procedures for work associated with reclaimed and collection systems.
Learn about Regulatory requirements, Sampling, Flow Studies, Pretreatment Devices, and Inspection techniques.
Take water samples and perform testing under supervision.
Learn to perform and evaluate chemical tests.
Assist with reading meters and gauges to monitor water volumes delivered to percolation basins and customer sites.
Assist with odor control operations, reading a gas meter and calculating appropriate dosing of chemicals.
Assist with repairs and maintenance to force mains, sewer mains, plumbing at lift stations, distribution lines, gates, valves, roadways, and irrigation ditches.
The candidate will be given written material and on-the-job training with the expectation that they test for their level 1 ADEQ operator certification in the discipline that matches their interest.
