What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Firefighter Recruit position at Town of Gilbert?
Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for several highly motivated individuals to become Firefighters with Gilbert Fire & Rescue. Gilbert Firefighters respond to fire, medical, and related emergency calls when dispatched, as well as educate staff and the public on fire safety and prevention.
Recruits will have the unique opportunity to train in Gilbert’s new state-of-the-art Public Safety Training Facility. After successfully completing Fire Academy, Gilbert Firefighters work an average of ten 24-hour shifts per month with opportunity for overtime and ample career advancement options such as the HazMat program and Tactical Paramedic program; as well as promotional opportunities to Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, and beyond.
Being a Gilbert Firefighter requires a high standard of integrity, drive, and commitment. The recruitment process will evaluate applicants for these qualities and more. Candidates who successfully pass each phase of the process will complete an online Behavioral and Cognitive Assessment, an online Video Interview, an in-person Oral Board Interview, and an Internship program. It is anticipated that finalists will receive Conditional Offers of Employment in summer 2025.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(MUST BE OBTAINED PRIOR TO HIRE)
- Must be 18 Years of Age
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid Driver's License or ability to obtain Arizona Driver's License by job offer
- Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) issued between November 21, 2024 and May 21, 2025
- State of AZ or National Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification or ability to obtain prior to May 21, 2025
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS
(MUST OBTAIN THESE CERTIFICATIONS BY SUCCESSFULLY PASSING THE PAID RECRUIT ACADEMY)
- Valid Arizona Firefighter I and II Certifications
- CPR Certification
- Hazardous Materials First Responded Certification
PARAMEDICS MUST ALSO MAINTAIN THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATIONS:
- Paramedic Certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
- Note: Paramedic certification is a preferred certification, not required

Salary : $56,327 - $79,220
