The Plans Examiner II - Building & Fire reports to the Plan Review Supervisor The primary job duties of this position include:
- Conduct reviews and analyses of residential, commercial, and industrial land development projects.
- Assist in projects from permit application to final inspection.
- Conducts plan reviews, makes field visits.
- Reviews applications and related documents to ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and ordinances.

Candidates for a Plans Examiner II Fire/Building must possess the following requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- At least one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in a related field, such as building construction, engineering, environmental, architecture, blueprint reading, electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing.
- 3-4 years working experience within a building and planning environment.
- Fire Plan Review experience preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job classification.
- Two (2) ICC certifications, one of which must be from the Building or Fire Plans Examiner category. The second may be from the residential or commercial, plan review, or inspection category.
- Valid Driver's License.
Plans Examiner II level is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation. This position is currently on a 4/10 work schedule. Offices are closed on Fridays. This position has the potential to work remotely although some office and site visits will be required.
