The Intelligent Transportation Systems Specialist. reports to the Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer. The primary job duties of this position include:
- Installs and maintains signal cabinet ITS equipment, intersection ITS equipment and communication equipment.
- Manage the town’s fiber optic infrastructure.
- Review construction plans for fiber optic infrastructure, signal control plans and work orders, suggesting revisions as needed.
- Train traffic signal technicians and contractors in the configuration, installation and maintenance of traffic signal and ITS equipment.
- Document updates/improvements/enhancements to the ITS network and electronically upload to our fiber management software.

- Associate’s degree or a Two-Year Technical Certificate in Telecommunications or Electrical.
- 5 Years of experience in Electrical/Electronics, Construction and Radio Communications.
- 3 Years of experience in Fiber Optics and Telecommunications.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Work Zone Safety within 6 months of hire
- IMSA Fiber Optic Technician Level 2 as soon as possible based on the requirements set by IMSA at the time of hire or approved equal certification as determined by the hiring panel.
- Arizona Driver's License.
