The Payroll Specialist reports to the Accounting Supervisor. The primary job duties of this position include:

The Payroll Specialist reports to the Accounting Supervisor. The primary job duties of this position include:
- Reviews and inputs Federal and State tax and employee direct deposit information and changes.
- Respond to payroll-related requests for information from internal departments, employees, and outside agencies.
- Audit bi-weekly timecards, make necessary corrections, and prepare queries to review for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to Personnel Policies.
- Process timecard imports in the payroll software to generate checks, direct deposits, and reports.
- Analyze various reports to ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll; make manual adjustments as needed.

At Team Gilbert, we hire outcome-oriented problem-solvers who love what they do! Qualified candidates must possess the following requirements:
- Associates degree in Payroll, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field;
- 5 years of experience processing full-cycle payroll (municipal experience preferred), working with automated timecard software, tax filing, auditing and reconciling Federal and State taxes, daily payroll operations, and providing internal and external customer service.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- Daily payroll operations for a large entity; preferably in the public sector;
- Complete understanding of the full-cycle payroll process;
- Pension systems and associated reporting;
- Federal and State tax laws.
- Completing work under tight deadlines;
- Microsoft Excel;
- Timekeeping and payroll software;
- Customer service with internal and external customers.
