GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision of a Recreation Supervisor in the Parks and Recreation Department, incumbent plans, coordinates, conducts and oversees community activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Plans, prepares, and coordinates activities, events and trips, including, but not limited to set up of furniture and equipment, purchase of supplies, scheduling instructors, speakers and entertainers and arranging travel.
- Produces and distributes promotional materials such as press releases, flyers, posters and social media outreach.
- Oversees implementation of programs, ensuring efficient operation and participant satisfaction.
- Evaluates program success through direct observation, participant feedback and enrollment levels. Provides recommendations for program changes, and future programming.
- Maintains participation statistics, tracks program expenditures and reviews timekeeping records for accuracy.
OTHER DUTIES:
- May participate in selection, training and evaluation of seasonal staff.
- Performs other duties as required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to:
- Push/ pull/ lift objects of up to 20 pounds, occasionally
- Sit or stand, frequently; walk for prolonged periods of time or stoop, occasionally
- Perform manipulative skills such as keyboarding or filing
- See objects closely as in typing a document or reading a report; hear normal sounds with background noise, distinguish voice patterns and communicate with speech as in using a telephone
- Concentrate on moderate detail with some interruption, attend to task 60 minutes or more, remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over long periods; understand and relate to specific ideas, generally, several at a time.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree from a recognized college in recreation, gerontology, childhood development or a related area of study
- One (1) year of experience in coordinating recreation programming
OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION:
- Public Service License, desirable
Salary : $28 - $34
