What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Inspector position at Town of Greeneville?
The Building, Planning & Development department is currently seeking an experienced and/or entry level Building Inspector to join their team. Employees in this role conduct inspections using independent judgement following standard guidelines in compliance with International Building Codes and Town Codes in building construction, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing regulations. Responsibilities also include building a positive working environment with contractors and the public and issuing violation notices, stop-work orders, and construction permits.
A Technical degree with training emphasis in general building construction, construction trades, and a variety of building inspection specialties, a Bachelor’s degree in Building Technology or Construction Management; or a similar field from an accredited college or university with five (5) plus years of related, progressively responsible experience in a buildings trade, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. Must have or ability to obtain appropriate certifications in all respective trades/disciplines as designated under the provisions of the Tennessee Building Code, must possess a valid driver license, and must have the ability to be bonded and certified by Tennessee State Fire Marshal.
Salary based on experience.
