What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adaptive Camp Counselor position at Town of Greenwich?
Provides support, intervention, and supervision to campers who require additional assistance, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and enriching camp experience.
Must be available for the entire 7-week camp program.Must be at least 18 years old, plus prior experience in recreation programs and/or working with children; special education experience preferred. Must pass background check.
Must have current CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification OR be willing to re-certify and/or obtain prior to start date. Training is provided by the Department of Parks and Recreation. Assists in implementing personalized accommodations and modifications to promote camper success.
Offers additional assistance and support to camp groups and counselors as needed.
Fosters a positive and inclusive environment by supporting social interactions and engagement with peers.
Collaborates with camp staff, parents, and administrative staff to develop strategies for camper success.
Monitors camper behavior, safety, and well-being, responding appropriately to any challenges.
Assists with transitions, daily routines, and participation in sports, arts, and other recreational activities.
Serves as a role model, demonstrating patience, empathy, and enthusiasm throughout the camp experience.
Performs other related duties as needed.
