What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hairdresser (Part-time/Approx. 6 hours/week) - Skilled Nursing Facility position at Town of Greenwich?
Provides a variety of beauty and grooming services such as washing, cutting and styling of hair to clients (i.e., residents) that may have limited mobility, communication or cognitive abilities.
This is a part-time position located at the Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Facility, 70 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT. This position will be scheduled for approximately 6 hours per week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from accredited Cosmetology School, and at least five (5) years of related salon experience.
Must possess a Connecticut Cosmetology License for each procedure performed.
Qualifications:
Thorough understanding of current trends in hair styles and cuts.
Thorough understanding of hair styling equipment and maintenance.
Effective verbal communication skills and patience with elder clients.
Proven ability to engage with clients to understand and help them explain specific requests.
Demonstrated understanding of salon offerings.
Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Proven ability to work under pressure.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Consults with clients to fully understand desired service and final look requested.
Shampoos, conditions, dries hair, and applies products to hair to aid in curling or styling.
Cuts, trims, and styles hair according to client’s wishes.
Shapes or trims facial hair for men.
Maintains clean, safe, and sanitized work areas.
Supports Town policies and philosophies.
Performs related work as required.
All outside candidates will be required to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test that includes testing for THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), given at the Town's expense prior to employment if conditionally offered a part time, full time or safety sensitive position. Candidates for employment at Nathaniel Witherell Skilled Nursing Facility are required to demonstrate their vaccination status against COVID 19.The Town of Greenwich has implemented a policy of background investigations all full and part time positions prior to hiring as part of the reference checking procedures for outside candidates.
