What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic II (Sewer) position at Town of Greenwich?
Installs, maintains and repairs specialized equipment used in the collection and treatment of wastewater, as well as assisting with the maintenance and repair of facilities equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma plus two (2) years’ basic experience in maintenance and repairs of equipment, such as that used in the collection and/or treatment of wastewater.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Tanker endorsement, within six (6) months of appointment.
Class II Collection System certification, within one (1) year of appointment.
Nine (9) CEU’s in a CTDEEP approved Wastewater Treatment Facility Operations Course, within six (6) months of appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated knowledge of the operating and maintenance requirements of specialized equipment used for the treatment of wastewater.
Demonstrated knowledge of the operating and maintenance requirements of facilities equipment, including boilers, fans, make-up air units, and basic plumbing fixtures.
Proven knowledge of OSHA safety policies.
Demonstrated ability to operate all sewer division vehicles and equipment, including forklift, skid steer, plow, vac-jet truck, crane truck and portable generators.
Demonstrated ability to operate tools and mechanical equipment used in sewer cleaning, maintenance work, and facilities repair.
Proven ability to read plans, specifications and operations and maintenance manuals.
Demonstrated ability to maintain records and complete reports.
Demonstrated physical ability to perform all job functions, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy equipment and objects, as well as climbing, bending, and kneeling.
Proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with contractors, colleagues, public officials and the public.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a personal computer and related software.
Demonstrated ability to enter confined spaces and follow confined space requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in maintaining, repairing and replacing facilities equipment, including boilers, fans, make-up air units, and basic plumbing fixtures.
Maintains up-to-date records of preventative maintenance work and repairs.
Operates all Sewer Division equipment, including vac-jet truck, skid steer, plow, forklift, crane truck and portable generators.
Engages with vendors, suppliers and tech support on technical support issues and ordering of sewer related equipment.
Responds to emergency call outs as required.
Provides scheduled standby coverage and responds as required.
Supports Town policies and philosophies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Salary : $34 - $38
