The Town of Hadley has an immediate opening for a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (WWTPO). This is a fully benefited 40 hour/week union job in a municipal pension system. This position will remain open until filled.
Position Summary: The WWTPO is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Town's municipal wastewater treatment facility and collection system. Work includes ensuring the proper operation, maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment equipment, pumping stations, lab testing, and maintaining detailed operational logs and records. The employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.
Education and Experience: Must have a minimum of a High School or trade school diploma, or its equivalency; Preferably one to three (1-3) years prior work experience in municipal wastewater distribution and treatment systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be at least 18 years of age at date of hire.
Special Requirements: A candidate for this position must have the ability to obtain a Grade 3 operator's license. Must possess a valid Massachusetts Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Air Brake Certification; hoister's license 2A with tanker endorsement, OSHA-10 certification, and any other licenses/endorsements required by state or federal law; or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Employees shall be expected to do a reasonable amount of overtime. Preference will be given to those with current Massachusetts Class B Operator's License (CDL) with Air Brake Certification, hoister's license 2A, and tanker endorsement; OSHA-10 certification, and any other licenses/endorsements required by state or federal law.
The current union negotiated wage range for the position is $27.06 – $35.95. Compensation based on credentials, education, and experience.
