Under supervision of the Head of Circulation, this position helps shelve and organize library collection materials. The work requires an understanding of how the library is organized. The work performed is subject to review through observation, reports and the results achieved. Flexible schedule that may include some weekend and evening shifts.
- Shelves library materials.
- Straightens, shelf reads, and may assist with organization of library materials.
- Discards newspapers as appropriate.
- Participates in training of new Pages.
- Assists with handling recycling, cleaning shelves, and shifting collections.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
- Knowledge of the library’s public service commitment.
- Knowledge of Dewey Decimal classification systems.
- Knowledge of library policies and procedures.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
