What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor-In-Training position at Town of Hanover?
The Summer Camp Counselor in Training within the OST Division of the Department is a volunteer entry level seasonal position and is designed to be a learning experience for employees starting out in the job market. This position will assist all levels of OST staff in various functions in all recreational programs, activities, and events.
Major Job Duties
- Assist senior staff members in the day-to-day operations of Summer Camp programs.
- Assists with equipment set up needed in different activities—taking out balls, bats, etc. and returning to proper place at the end of activities.
- Reports all infractions or issues to immediate supervisor
- Will help maintain a safe and clean environment.
- May shadow Counselors for learning experience in the operation of the department’s programs.
- Will assist with activities when requested to by senior staff members.
- May assist with special events and activities.
- Will perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be able to satisfy NH work permit requirements.Successful completion of 8th Grade of High School and enrolled in High School or equivalent.
Knowledge and Skills Required
The work consists of related specialized duties. Inclement weather contributes to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to perform specialized duties in the provision of indoor/outdoor children’s programming. Successful performance helps ensure the effective delivery of parks and recreation services, thereby improving the quality of life for citizens and enhancing the image of the town.
