Join Our Team as a seasonal Beach Ambassador
The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking highly motivated, friendly, and approachable individual to join our team as Beach Ambassador. The Beach Ambassador will serve as a public-facing representative for the Town of Hilton Head Island, ensuring that residents, visitors, and beachgoers have a safe, enjoyable, and environmentally responsible beach experience.
What You Will Do
- Play a key role in enhancing the overall guest experience by offering essential beach-related information, educating the public on safe and sustainable beach practices, and acting as a visible presence to foster a friendly, welcoming atmosphere
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information to beachgoers regarding beach rules and regulations, local attractions, park amenities, parking availability, seasonal events, and safety tips
- Educate beachgoers on beach safety practices
- Promote environmentally responsible behaviors by encouraging proper waste disposal and advocating for wildlife conservation
- With the support of Code Enforcement, proactively address minor conflicts or concerns related to beach behavior
- Work closely with other Beach Operations staff, local code enforcement officers, lifeguards, and other town personnel to ensure the safety and well-being of all beachgoers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- College coursework in environmental science, hospitality, recreation, or a related field preferred
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, environmental education, or other public-facing roles preferred.
Work Schedule
- Seasonal assignment starts on Memorial Day weekend (end of May) and concludes the end of Labor Day weekend (beginning of September)
- Requires weekend hours, including holidays, to accommodate peak beach usage times
- Typical schedule is from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday
- Additional hours may be available during peak tourist seasons or for special events
