As Sanitation Maintenance Worker, you will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in refuse and yard waste collection duties utilizing various debris collection platforms such as a standard automated rear load trash truck, trash truck grapple loader, and a truck mounted leaf vacuum machine.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Qualified candidates should possess the ability to perform the following essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Performs heavy manual labor in the collection and disposal of refuse; Lift, carry, and dump refuse containers into a truck; Push or pull refuse containers to hydraulic lift.
- Operate sanitation vehicle to pick up and dispose of refuse; collect residential yard waste and household furniture according to assigned route.
- Perform safety checks on all vehicles; Fill vehicles with fuel as necessary; Schedule maintenance or repairs as needed; Wash sanitation vehicles.
- Maintain a variety of records including oil and fuel usage and amount of refuse collected.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public regarding sanitation collection and disposal operations.
- Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of equipment operations, services, and activities of sanitation collection and disposal program.
- Basic knowledge of hazards associated with the work and proper safety precautions related to traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in truck and heavy equipment operation.
- Basic knowledge of principles and practices of record keeping.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations associated with sanitation collection and disposal.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor in the collection and disposal of refuse.
- Ability to ensure proper and safe operation and maintenance of refuse collection vehicles.
- Possession of a NC Class B CDL or ability to obtain CDL within 1 year of employment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.75 - $17.00 per hour
