Job Summary
The Town of Hurley Code Enforcement Office is seeking a full-time position for Municipal Code Aide
The position is a provisional appointment in the civil service competitive class, subject to the civil service examination as well as completing the basic training for New York State Code Enforcement certification.
Duties
- Assist in the operation of the municipal building department
- Assist in the enforcement of local laws and ordinances related to zoning
- Assist in the preparation of information for the Zoning Board of Appeals
- Assist in making recommendations regarding zoning, local laws, variances and special use permits
- Review plans and conduct inspections
- Maintain records
- Handle complaints and issue violation notices
- General clerical duties
Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of one-year experience in the field of construction or equivalent education.
- driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred candidates will have:
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Be detailed oriented
- Work well in both group settings and individually
