Job Description:

Town of Islip is seeking a Site Plan Reviewer for the Engineering Department. The Site Plan Reviewer shall assist the Town Engineer with review of construction documents to ensure proper compliance has been met. An ideal Candidate must have thorough knowledge of town zoning codes and town design standards; good knowledge of the appropriate placement of buildings, streets, sidewalks and parking areas; working knowledge of landscape design; ability to read and interpret technical draft plans, maps, charts and blueprints; ability, upon viewing construction site, to ascertain facts in relation to town zoning codes; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Job Requirement:

a) Graduation from a New York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree, and two (2) years of experience in civil engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, drafting, zoning inspection or site plan review or;

b) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and six (6) years of experience in civil engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, drafting, zoning inspection or site plan review; or,

c) An equivalent combination of education and experience defined by the limits of a and b

NOTE: Additional experience will be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Candidate must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State. This is a provisional position and the candidate will be required to take and pass the Suffolk County Civil Service Exam for this title. For further information, follow the link below:
