WORKING CONDITIONS:
JOB CONTEXT: This position works a schedule determined by the Recreation Supervisor and is classified as limited service. Limited service employees work less than 1,000 hours per year. Hours will vary based on the number of planned events and times for which they are scheduled. Work may be required for holiday and emergency events. The stress level of this job is low to moderate.EXPERIENCE: Experience in athletics, recreation event planning, or customer service is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid driver's license is preferred.
Under limited supervision, is responsible for preparing site and overseeing recreational, educational, social, and athletic events and rentals.
- Assisting with recreational, educational and social events to meet the needs and interests of residents of the Town of Knightdale. Examples of past and current events include: July 4th Festival, Community Day, Easter Eggstraordinaire, Turkey Leg 5k, Movie Night Series, Daddy Daughter Dance, and tournaments.
- Assisting with set up and cleaning before, during, and after events, festivals, tournaments, and rentals. This includes but is not limited to:
- locking and unlocking facilities;
- being on site to assist with preparing the facility/park for vendors and guest arrival;
- assisting with facilitating and directing the move-in and set up of vendors (caterers, musicians, etc.) as needed.
- setting up chairs and/or tables;
- moving partitions, installing and removing gym floor cover, setting up score boxes, raking fields, removing bases, and distributing equipment for athletic events;
- checking and cleaning restrooms; and
- picking up trash
- Keeping official score at athletic events and recording and reporting results in a timely manner.
- Performing general cashiering and gate keeping duties at the Knightdale Community Pool.
- Overseeing park grounds and regularly checking on the event, vendors, and guests while events are in progress.
- Reporting any damaged equipment or low inventory items to supervisory staff immediately.
- Coordinating with supervisory staff for dual activities.
- Greeting customers in a warm and friendly manner.
- Answering inquiries about programs and resolving patron issues in a timely manner.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Providing clerical support.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operations functions of fingering, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to perform sedentary and active work exerting up to 25 pounds of force.
- Employee exposed to inside and outside environment conditions, both hot and cold weather.
- Hours will vary based on the number of planned events and times for which they are scheduled. Holiday work will be required for some holiday events.
