What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker (Summer) position at Town of Leesburg?
Duties include: painting duties at facilities or on existing fire hydrants, ground maintenance work such as cleanup, mowing grass, landscaping, trimming bushes, and removing trees. And assisting with the maintenance of equipment including lawn equipment, tractors, and chain saws. Assist with custodial and facility maintenance. Assists with special events, snow removal, with traffic control on water and sewer-related emergencies. Assist staff with assigned duties.
Work Schedule: This summer position is within the Utilities Department. The schedule is May-August, 40 hours/week, five days per week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Ability to work under adverse weather conditions. Must be at least 18 years of age.
HS/GED. Minimum of 6 months of experience performing a variety of skilled trades, maintenance work, construction work, farming or manual labor. Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Knowledge in MS Suite applications and computer program applications appropriate to the position.
Road construction and/or landscaping experience. Knowledge of street maintenance, snow removal activities, and basic landscaping tools and equipment. General construction skills.
