What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Works Driver/Operator position at Town of Lisbon?
The Town of Lisbon Public Works is currently seeking a full-time Driver/Laborer who Operates in a skilled manner, with automotive and construction equipment in support of work performed by the Public Works Department. The individual performs a variety of manual tasks when necessary and does related work as required.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of proper operational use and maintenance of the particular type of equipment to which assigned.
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in the operation of trucks and equipment.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations involving Public Works equipment
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions as well as direct other workers.
- Ability to take the initiative and resolve problems of assigned tasks.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
- High school graduate, with two years of experience in the operation of trucks and light construction equipment.
- Preferred Class B CDL or Class A CDL issued by the State of Maine.
- If you do not have a CDL license, the Town of Lisbon will pay for your CDL B license class (terms and conditions apply), and you will be able to obtain it within the 6-month probationary period.
Normal working hours are generally between 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and vary seasonally. Nights, weekends, and holiday work will be required in association with snow maintenance. Normal Spring/Summer work hours are 4 days workweek Monday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The pay range for this position starts at $21.80 to $23.79 per hour, depending on experience.
