What are the responsibilities and job description for the Little Elm Citizen's Police Academy position at Town of Little Elm?

The Little Elm Citizen's Police Academy is a 13-week immersive program that offers an in-depth exploration of the Little Elm Police Department! Each week, participants will gain valuable insight into the department's operations, role in the community, and the work they do to serve and protect. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 PM, beginning March 20, 2025, and running through June 12, 2025. Exceptions to the Thursday schedule are typically moved to the following Saturday. Any schedule changes will be announced as the class progresses. Classes are held in the Public Safety Building located at 88 W Eldorado Parkway. Applications will be accepted from Monday, February 3 to Monday, March 3, 2025.
The program has 30 seats available and is open to all Little Elm residents, owners of Little Elm based businesses, and individuals who volunteer for any of Little Elm’s various programs. Applicants outside of these groups may be considered for participation if space is available.
Participants will be exposed to a broad range of topics related to all aspects of law enforcement, including criminal investigations, K-9 units, hostage negotiation teams, and more. Regular attendance is required to successfully complete the program. Additionally, all applicants must complete a background check prior to acceptance.
