The Opportunity
This position performs intermediate skilled clerical work involving customer service and billing and collection for utility and property tax collections and other services as well as related work as required. Duties include receiving payments; posting accounts; assisting customers; researching account data; maintaining records and files; preparing reports. Work is performed under regular supervision. Position reports to the Collector of Revenue.
About Us
The Town of Mansfield’s Finance Department is comprised of three divisions: assessment, accounting, and revenue. The Department is part of a larger shared services model, in which the Town Department provides services for several local entities including: Town of Mansfield, Mansfield Board of Education, Regional School District No.19, Eastern Highland Health District, Discovery Depot Daycare and the Mansfield Downtown Partnership.
The Finance Department’s objective is to provide efficient, courteous, and professional service to all of the organizations served. This includes accounting and bookkeeping, accounts payable, financial reporting, payroll, and treasury management. The Finance Department also provides assistance with budget preparation and monitoring for all entities. Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports and related annual independent audits are administered through Finance. We are committed to providing staff with the tools necessary to meet our customer’s needs.
Work Schedule & Location
This position is 35 hours per week. This position will observe a 4-day work week, Mondays-Thursday.
The work location is the Audrey Beck Municipal Building, 4 South Eagleville Road, Mansfield, CT 06268.
Compensation
The hourly pay range is $27.99 -$35.27/hr. The hiring rate of pay will depend upon the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. The Town of Mansfield provides an extremely competitive benefits package. Mansfield participates in the Connecticut Municipal Retirement System (CMERS), a defined benefit pension plan, a variety of other benefits such as medical, vision, dental, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, tuition assistance, paid vacation and holidays.
Depending upon the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, this position may be filled at the Lead Revenue Specialist classification (Grade 19), with additional duties, and an annual salary range of $61,006 to $77,477.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in accounting or related field. Experience in accounting, financial record keeping, bookkeeping, banking, or revenue collection and considerable customer service experience highly desirable. Consideration will be given to equivalent experience, education, and training.
Possession of or ability to acquire certification as a Connecticut Municipal Collector within three years of employment.
