The Town of Marana is currently seeking individuals who enjoy swimming, keeping people safe, and working outdoors. The Parks and Recreation Department is hiring 50 Lifeguards and 4 Head Lifeguards for an exciting summer working at the Marana Aquatic and Recreation Center.Â
Lifeguard Positions Will Consist Of Morning, Evening, Weekend, And Holiday Shifts Both Seasonally For The Summer Months And Year-round. Applicants Must Commit To Work The Entire Season And Must Attend Orientation And Training Provided By The Town. StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Training And Certification Will Be Provided, Free Of Charge To The Selected Applicants, Upon Beginning Of Employment. See Recruitment Schedule Below
RECRUITMENT SCHEDULE

March 3rd & 4th (evenings): Interviews and In-Water Screening (See Additional Requirements below for details)
March 20th (daytime): First day with required Orientation
March 24-April 25 (5 Weeks): Lifeguard SGE Lifeguard Training & SAI Swim Instruction Training
Starting Pay Rate
Selected candidates will be invited to interview for the position. Those who advance from the interview step will then complete a 50lb lift test and physical, followed by a water screening test. To be considered, applicants must complete this water screen test. Passing candidates must have the ability to swim 50 yards without stopping, swim 50 yards with a rescue tube, tread water for 2 minutes without use of hands and retrieve a 10-pound dive brick from bottom of the pool.

Starting Pay Rate
- Lifeguard: $17/hourÂ
- Head Lifeguard: $18/hourÂ
- Returning Marana employees may be eligible for a $0.25/hour increase for each returning year up to a maximum pay rate of $18.00/hour for Lifeguards, and 19.00/hour for Head Lifeguards.
- Greet patrons arriving at the facility
- Answer inquiries about Aquatic programming and provide information to patrons
- Practice lifeguard/rescue skills and participate in In-Service Trainings.
- Monitor the facility functions to prevent accidents and drowning incidents
- Assist with the inventory for pool/office supplies
- Maintain high standards or safety and skills
- Assist with pool custodial maintenance and assignments as needed
- Enforce all pool rules and regulations
- Lead (teach) and provide assistance with groups in Aquatic Programming and Events
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Pool Managers and Head Lifeguards
- Must be courteous and cooperative with public at all timesÂ
- Assist supervisor in ensuring adherence to swimming pool rules, operation procedures, and reporting any possible injury or safety hazards. (Head Lifeguard)

- Over 6 months of lifeguard experience
