Position Description

The Town of Marana is seeking a Technology Support Specialist I and Technology Support Specialist II to work in the Information Technology Department. The Technology Support Specialist role is to support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The person will respond to work order requests, troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and assistance where required. The level II role will also support and update public safety systems.

Technology Support Specialist I

Expected Hiring Range: $22.30 - $27.32

Salary Range: $22.30 - $32.34

Technology Support Specialist II

Expected Hiring Range: $26.74 - $32.76

Salary Range: $26.74 - $38.78

  • placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget

Examples of Duties

  • Provides PC support by updating and replacing software/hardware; configures new software; responds to issues; and orders replacement hardware.
  • Provides telephone, infrastructure, and printer/copier support by setting up and configuring phones; troubleshoots and repairs network cabling and server application issues; and maintains printer/copier.
  • Provides administrative support by creating and maintaining user accounts; maintains inventory of equipment; and researches new software and technologies.
  • Coordinates and ensures effective communication with every team member; provides training and support as needed to staff and end users; and maintains knowledge of various computer, video and technical systems and equipment.
  • The Technology Support Specialist II will also support and update public safety communication and video equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Technology Support Specialist I

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems or related field.
  • Over six months of experience in technology and/or computer related support.

OR

  • Comp TIA certification plus one additional IT related certification
  • Over six months of experience in technology and/or computer related support

OR

  • Over 2.5 years of experience in technology and/or computer related support

Technology Support Specialist II

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems or related field.
  • Over one year of experience in technology and/or computer related support.

OR

  • Comp TIA certification plus two additional IT related certifications can substitute for Associate’s degree
  • Over one year of experience in technology and/or computer related support

OR

  • Over three years of experience in technology and/or computer related support

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have a valid Arizona Driver License.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and a 25-pound lift test
  • Ability to pass the Town of Marana background check, a motor vehicle records check, and fingerprint clearance.
  • On-call rotation required

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA Network Certification, Windows 10 Certification
