SHELLFISH TECHNICIANS
The Town of Mashpee Department of Natural Resources welcomes applications for part-time Shellfish Technicians. This position works up to 19 hours a week during the shoulder season (early October through late May) and then transfers to a seasonal position, up to 40 hours a week, including weekends, holidays, and some evenings from late May through early October.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Graduate or GED
- Knowledge of shellfish aquaculture, or any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Knowledge of boating, waterway, and shellfish laws, Mashpee Town By-laws.
- Must be at least eighteen years old.
- Must possess a valid MA driver's license (Class D) and MA Boating Safety Certification.
- Must possess current CPR and First Aid certifications, or obtain upon appointment.
- Must successfully pass a C.O.R.I. background check.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Department of Natural Resources with general and technical work relating to aquaculture and propagation of shellfish, protection of the shellfishery, and other related work as required.
- May also assist in Water Quality sampling and monitoring.
