POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for planning, supervision, and directing all day camp programs and staff. Hiring new staff, training and evaluating camp employees. Serve as the key interface with parents and guardians in assuring positive experiences for attendees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Interview and hire prospective camp staff with MATTREC Director
· Prepare and conduct pre-camp and on-going staff training and meetings
· Assign staff to activities and functional responsibilities.
· Supervise and evaluate camp staff; take necessary corrective action where required.
· Prepare seasonal evaluations and recommendations for next season.
· Manage, assign, evaluate day camp program schedules including special events
· Initiate and monitor all drop off and pick up policies and procedures.
· Develop, manage, and evaluate opening and closing day procedures for campers & staff
· Maintain and review evaluations of all programs, staff, and facilities of program and recommend and/or act as required.
· Manage, monitor and report on issues of childcare safety and security.
· Inventory and order supplies and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Recreation Management, Physical Education or related.
· Candidates with comparable experience are encouraged to apply.
· Minimum of three years experience successful camp leadership role.
· Experience with planning, organizing, and implementing a wide range of daily and specialized programs.
· Proven ability to interface with children and adults in a positive manner; resolve issues and react appropriately to non-routine situations.
· Experience supervising and motivating large camp staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Ability to physically react to emergency situations and on occasion to assist or lift people in distress of varying weights.
· Ability to engage in physical education activities and games with campers both indoors and outdoors. Afternoons will be spent at Town beach, so it is necessary to be able to work outdoors in sun and heat.
· Required to walk over uneven ground, crouch, kneel, stoop, climb.
· Ability to work in weather conditions of varying elements including rain, heat, pollen, and humidity, among others.
