Position: Building Maintenance Assistant
Department: Parks & Recreation
Status: Full-Time, Hourly Position
Salary: $22.00/Hourly
GENERAL PURPOSE: This position is responsible for maintaining in and around the Dean and Barbara White Community Center. The Building Maintenance Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Building Supervisor.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Commercial lawnmower experience and an understanding of HVAC systems is preferred.
- Maintenance skills, power tool knowledge, and landscaping and snow removal experience are required.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain inventory of all equipment and supplies needed and used, including keys.
- Engage in a wide variety of tasks such as snow removal, cutting grass with commercial mowers, weed removal, and trimming trees, shrubs, and branches.
- Inspect lots and collect debris.
- Support the Maintenance Supervisor as needed.
- Report any damage, deterioration, or maintenance needed to the supervisor.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions.
- Must have the ability to work independently.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Parks & Recreation Director, Assistant Parks & Recreation Director, and Maintenance Supervisor.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to pass a background check and a drug screening.

- Must have dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized equipment.
- Properly climb a ladder and work from heights.

- Lifting and carrying heavy objects - 50 lb. minimum.
- Heavy physical labor.
- Carrying; pushing or pulling; kneeling or crouching.
