POSITION SUMMARY :
The Crew Manager is a seasonal position with the Town of Middletown responsible for supervising and coordinating the maintenance crew while completing daily responsibilities including, but not limited to seasonal installation of mats and boardwalks, daily set up and breakdown of gate houses, clearing and maintaining mats and boardwalks, collection, and disposal of refuse, scheduling staff, installing, and maintaining snow fence. This position is also responsible for supervising and coordinating with Middletown Police Department to manage the flow of traffic into and out of all lots. Assists the Beach Manager or acts as Beach Manager in his / her absence as designated. Performs other duties as assigned.
I ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Responsible for the overall coordinating and direction of tasks assigned to the crew members and crew leaders.
- Coordinates the work of crew members related to the cleaning and maintenance of bathrooms, beach, parking lot and Triangle A & B, among other areas.
- Responsible for the proper daily set up and breakdown of gate houses. Coordinates the work of crew members related to set-up, such as by placing safety ropes, cones, flags, umbrellas, tables and chairs, in appropriate areas.
- Ensures proper collection and disposal of refuse in accordance with the Town's policies and procedures.
- Conducts daily inspections to ensure assigned tasks to crew members are being properly accomplished.
- Creates a safe environment for both beach staff and beach patrons to operate in, such as by ensuring removal of debris, repair and replacement of mats and boardwalks.
- Responsible for maintaining proper staffing needs and creating weekly schedules.
- Ensures proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment and makes recommendations for their replacement accordingly.
- Responsible for the proper installation of snow fence.
- Completes time and attendance information (payroll) for all beach personnel and submits it to Beach Manager for his / her review and approval.
- Assist Beach Manager in working in conjunction with the Department of Public Works to ensure beach is raked and sand is removed from the road and other areas.
- Assists with responsibilities for any matters related to 3rd beach, such as staffing, customer complaints, etc.
- As part of closing procedures, ensure that trash has been picked up, town vehicles (scooters, gators) are stored in the shed along with any other equipment.
- Announces there are no lifeguards on duty at 6 PM through the loudspeaker.
- Ensure all radios and safety equipment is stored in the First Aid room (radios, First Aid kits, and AED) at the end of the day.
- Locks up building (bathrooms, office, First Aid room, and Lifeguard locker rooms)
- Acts as a Beach Manager in his / her absence.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Assist with pre-season beach operations and preparation as needed.
