The Town of Milford is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Welfare Director. This is a p / t (25-29 / hr / wk) position. The Welfare Director is responsible for administering all functions of the Town of Milford's General Assistance programs.
In addition to assisting the general public, the Welfare Director is responsible for monitoring State of NH legislation and / or Federal programs which may affect the administration of the Welfare program. The Welfare Director must be - or must become - familiar with, and know how to access, other general assistance programs such as Food Stamps; WIC, SHARE, HUD, etc. Actual work hours per week are dependent on work volume. This position also oversees the Social Services Committee. The individual in this position may assist with other Town Hall duties as they arise.
This position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to deal with diverse populations and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Social Services or related field or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and ability. The Welfare Director works under the general administrative supervision of, and is accountable to, the Town Administrator.
Wage range between $25.00 - $28.00 / hour depending on experience. Work schedule is Mon - Fri, 5 hours per day. Accruals for sick, vacation, holiday and personal time are pro-rated. This position does not include health or dental benefits.
