What are the responsibilities and job description for the PART-TIME LIBRARY ASSOCIATE ($18.00/hr) position at Town of Mooresville?
An employee in this class provides customer service in the library's Circulation division. Assists in meeting the needs of library patrons. Ability to create a welcoming environment for the library's youngest patrons and their caregivers. Implements established policies and procedures under the direction of supervisory staff and communicates policies to library patrons. Shelve, straighten, and maintain shelf order according to the Dewey Decimal System. Assists patrons in using library technology, including public access computers, the online library catalog, the self-checkout stations, copiers, and fax machines, as required by each division. Provides reference and information services to library patrons as required by each division. Provides information and customer service over the telephone as required by each division. Assists patrons in material selection and location. Examines children's books to be familiar with the material. Performs clerical support duties such as typing documents, processing mail, filing, preparing reports, cataloging materials, and maintaining patron records as required by each division. Ability to work independently, take the initiative and work cooperatively on a team. Some nights and weekends are required. Performs other tasks as required. High School Diploma or GED and one to three years of clerical experience, including experience working with the public and in a library; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. PLEASE NOTE: Weekend and evening work is required. The employee will work approximately 12-18 hours per week. Not to exceed 1000 hours in a 12 month period.
