The Town of Morrisville is seeking a motivated, personable, and experienced planning professional to join the Town of Morrisville’s Planning Department. Essentially the Planner II leads development review and is one of the most-public facing staff members of the Town’s Planning Department. Planner ll’s handle rezoning requests, site plan review, special use permits, variances, and are the departments leaders in implementing the Land Use Plan. The Planner II role performs difficult professional work participating in a variety of assignments in the planning department. Work involves the application of professional knowledge and skills in various municipal planning situations. Work in this class is at a higher level than the work of a Planner I. Work is distinguished by the level of complexity and the degree of independence with which the work is performed. Work in this class is performed by multiple positions and therefore typical tasks may not be indicative of every position. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Planning Manager.
- Reviews site plans, preliminary subdivision plats, and construction plans for conformance with Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) and modifications to the same.
- Reviews building permit submittals for conformance with approved plans.
- Serves as the project manager for telecommunication, special use permit, subdivision, and site plan applications by acting as the applicant’s main point of contact and identifying and facilitating discussion about any interdepartmental conflicts and issues.
- Reviews telecommunication submittals.
- Reviews rezonings and Comprehensive Plan amendments.
- Performs informal interpretations of the UDO as part of the development review process.
- Assigns addresses to new development.
- Compiles the development review committee’s comments and distributes to the applicant.
- Conducts informal discussions with prospective applicants regarding development applications and processes.
- Facilitates and leads pre-submittal meetings with prospective applicants.
- Performs site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans.
- Assists with final plat reviews.
- Reviews annexation petitions.
- Prepares reports, makes presentations and recommendations in planning-related issues to the Planning and Zoning Board and Town Council.
- Processes road re-namings and road closings.
- Processes variance, special use permit, and appeal requests.
- Recommends and prepares revisions to Unified Development Ordinance.
- Researches, investigates and prepares written reports on planning policies and issues.
- Provides assistance to citizens, developers, and public officials regarding zoning and related matters.
- Conducts research and manages special projects as assigned including the issuance of RFPs and the management of consultants.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Salary : $63,941 - $102,306
