The Small Business Program Specialist is responsible for developing, promoting, and delivering programs to support small businesses in Morrisville. The work involves considerable engagement with the business community, the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce, and other Town partners to assess needs and support provision of Town programs. Work requires the ability to facilitate discussions with stakeholder groups and collaborate with external partners. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Fiscal Recovery Officer. The ideal candidate will be passionate about engaging and supporting small businesses in Morrisville, with the ability to creatively engage stakeholders and promote Town programs.
- Plan and execute business and community input initiatives to inform development of the Morrisville Small Business Program.
- Use creative approaches to engage and facilitate discussions with small business owners and the community to assess needs and opportunities for Town support of small businesses.
- Work in collaboration with the Communications and Outreach Department to develop promotional and educational materials in support of the Town’s Small Business Program.
- Promote the Town’s Small Business Program offerings at Town sponsored events and other community events.
- Research peer community programs and recommend feasible ways the Town can support the Morrisville small business community.
- Analyze Morrisville’s small business database to inform program development and offerings.
- Coordinate with external partner organizations to support effective implementation of small business support initiatives.
- Develop program goals and metrics to determine program success and follow up with program beneficiaries to evaluate program effectiveness and inform future programming.
- Partner with the Communications and Outreach department to highlight small business success stories.
- Perform other related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other database management software; ability to conceptualize, design, plan and implement various community outreach programs and events; ability to develop effective relationships with community partners, businesses and professional contacts; ability to facilitate stakeholder engagement meetings; general knowledge of the Town’s organizations and functions; ability to manage time effectively; ability to multi-task; ability to present information orally and in writing; ability to present an effective and professional appearance in public.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, marketing, communications or related field. Some experience in community-based programming or project management, preferably in local government, is required.
