Hiring Range: $45,500.00 - $55,000.00
Performs semi-skilled work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of the Town’s roads, sidewalks, curb and gutter, signs, parking lots and stormwater systems. Work involves providing work leadership to others and performing work duties at a higher skill level and with greater independence. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Street Maintenance Supervisor and under the overall supervision of the Public Works Operations Manager.

Enters data into Asset Essentials software package for work orders, streetlights, street signs and storm water facilities; maintains street light inventory.
Investigates customer complaints and initiates follow-up work.
Supervises staff and projects in the absence of the crew leader.
- Maintains roads, storm drainage system, sidewalks, parking lots, traffic signs and associated facilities.
- Drives dump truck to haul dirt, rock, debris to job sites or landfill.
- Performs asphalt and concrete road repairs, collects litter and debris after storms and special events, cleans ditches and storm sewers, and installs traffic control signs.
- Performs initial troubleshooting, appropriately escalates for problem resolution as needed.
- Gathers tools and materials needed to complete projects. Purchases authorized supplies needed to complete assigned tasks.
- Operates front-end loader, backhoe, tractor, roller, skid steer, dump truck, mowers and various hand tools in the performance of duties.
- Pours and finishes concrete.
- Programs and maintains school zone flashers throughout the year.
- Repairs and installs signs.
- Performs various repairs to streets using asphalt and concrete.
- Assists in ensuring tools and equipment utilized by the staff are inspected and maintained in safe operation at all times.
- Assists other Town departments with special events, projects, and emergency situations including hauling loads of topsoil, rock, sand, etc.
- Maintains effective working relationships with/ associates, contractors and the general public; responds to citizen inquires and complaints regarding streets.
- Performs storm response and debris removal.
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment.
- Performs rights-of-way and drainage system maintenance; performs masonry duties and clears catch basins.
- Performs various carpentry and painting duties.
- Patrols and inspects public rights-of-way and reports any major safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Performs snow and ice removal during inclement weather; operates truck with snowplow on assigned shift.
- Manages traffic studies with includes placement and removal of counters and tubes in the roadway, maintenance, downloading of data captured, and using data to create various report layouts for different purposes or requests from different departments.
- Oversees small scale projects in the Streets Division.
- Creates quarterly reports to document WO progress, street light inventories, and weekly training within the division.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
