What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boat Launch Attendant (Summer Part-Time) position at Town of Naples, Maine?
NATURE OF WORK: The person(s) in this position will be responsible for overseeing vehicle and boat trailer parking in designated areas, boat inspections for fragments of invasive species, monitoring facility use permits or collecting ramp usage fees, and light maintenance and service to our public beach and boat launch area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our Beach and Boat Launch Attendants are directly responsible to the Town’s Maintenance Director and will be held to a work standard as determined by such.
REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
· Monitoring property access with Facility Use Permits or collecting boat ramp fees.
· Directing overflow parking of vehicles and boat trailers
· Checking & Inspecting boats ensuring compliance with local regulations for launch in our waterways.
· Record keeping of boat inspection results.
· Cleaning the beach and property of trash and debris.
· Cleaning the public restrooms and replenishing appropriate supplies as needed
· Walking the property to ensure rules and expectations are within the desired ordinances
· Organizing and issuance of Town’s non-motorized aquatic rental equipment
· Participates in staff orientation and training.
· Notifies appropriate agencies in the event of an emergency.
· Communicates identified repairs or maintenance to appropriate departments
· Other duties as assigned by supervision.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
· Potential Caretakers should be at least 18 years of age and will need to show high levels of enthusiasm, professionalism, and a “take charge” attitude towards work.
· They will need to have the ability to do some light lifting, and will need to possess strong written, verbal, and intrapersonal communication skills for dealing with beach goers, boaters, and other visitors to the property.
· This position will also require minimal computer/data entry skills as appropriate paperwork will need to be submitted electronically.
· Attendants should also possess the following traits: dependability, flexibility, humor, time management, consideration, empathy, all along with a great work ethic.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
· CPR/First Aid Certification (Town will train uncertified employees)
· Minimum of 18 years of age.
· Ability to communicate with others effectively and tactfully in stressful or confrontational situations.
· Ability to receive and process credit card payments electronically with town issue equipment.
· Ability to use cell phone and two-way radio communications.
BONA FIDE OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· This employee will be required to work primarily outdoors and will be subject to atmospheric conditions.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK:
· Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, manual dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, repetitive motions and twisting.
