Nature of Work
The Volunteer Driver Program Coordinator will manage a grant-funded volunteer driver program serving the mountain communities along the Peak-to-Peak. The coordinator will connect mountain residents with volunteer drivers, manage the recruitment and training of volunteers, and ensure data reporting and program coordination with key partners, including the Mobility and Access Coalition (MAC), Peak-to-Peak Housing and Human Services (P2PHHS), and the Mountain Mobility Working Group (MMWG). The role also includes the development of marketing materials and outreach efforts to promote the program and recruit volunteers. This temporary position will end on either June 30, 2025, or earlier if program funding is exhausted, whichever occurs first. If this program is successful and additional funding is secured, this position may continue past the June 30, 2025 date. Note: This is an exciting new program, and the Coordinator will be fully responsible for developing, establishing, and executing it from the ground up.
This position is at least 50% remote.
Supervision Received
Works under the direct supervision of the Town Administrator or his/her designee.
Supervision Exercised
Recruits, trains, and supervises a team of volunteer drivers.
Essential Duties
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive:
Program Development and Administration:
- Develop the administrative framework for the volunteer driver program, including procedures for recruiting, screening, and training volunteer drivers.
- Match trip requests with available volunteer drivers.
- Maintain and update driver and vehicle files, ensuring compliance with all regulations and program guidelines.
- Prepare monthly performance and management reports.
- As needed, may fill in for volunteers to occasionally drive mountain residents.
Community Engagement:
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with community members, providing a voice for residents regarding mobility options and transportation access.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate community meetings, presentations, and discussions to engage the public and community partners in the volunteer driver program.
- Conduct outreach efforts to raise awareness and promote the volunteer driver program within mountain communities.
Coordination with Partner Organizations:
- Collaborate with MAC, P2PHHS, MMWG, and other agencies to coordinate service delivery and develop interagency operations to support mountain mobility.
- Align the volunteer driver program with other transportation services, such as Mountain Rides, RTD Access-a-Ride, and the Gilpin County Volunteer Driver Program.
Program Monitoring and Reporting:
- Develop and monitor systems for tracking the impact of the volunteer driver program, ensuring accountability through data collection and reporting.
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the program and provide recommendations for improvement.
Marketing and Outreach:
- Create marketing materials and implement outreach efforts to recruit volunteer drivers and promote the program to mountain residents.
- Maintain an active presence in the community to encourage participation in the program.
Education, Experience, and Formal Training
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License and have access to a reliable vehicle
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Education or work history in transportation, human services, volunteer management, aging services, disability services, community development, or a related field
- Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated
Desired Experience:
- Strong community connections and a commitment to multi-agency collaboration
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Knowledge of community dynamics and stakeholders in the mountain communities
- Experience in volunteer coordination, program management, and outreach efforts
Work Environment
Generally sedentary at a desk, exerting up to 10 pounds to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. Tasks may require moderate lifting of 15 – 45 pounds under some circumstances. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Extensive typing and data entry requires use of fingers, wrists, and sitting for long periods of time in close proximity to a computer screen. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Job requires reading, writing, keyboarding, hearing, verbal communication, and visually observing situations. Environmental factors include working closely with others, working with office machinery (computers, printers, scanners, and photocopiers).
Position requires a person with flexible disposition, a willingness to learn new ways of doing things, and constant interruptions at times. Job may require exposure to a variety of weather conditions, temperatures, and slippery/uneven surfaces. Position requires working alone and as a member of a team.
Pay & Benefits
- This temporary position is paid $30.00/hour, working up to 30 hours per week through the months of mid-January – June 2025 (or ending earlier if grant funding is exhausted).
- For every 30 hours worked, 1 hour of Paid Time Off is accumulated.
- Because the Volunteer Driver Program Coordinator is a temporary position, this position is non-benefitted.
