The full-time Heavy Motor Equipment Operator (HMEO) position on the Sewer team of the Water, Sewer, and Drains division performs a variety of skilled duties which include the operation and maintenance of motorized equipment, handwork relating to water, sewer and drain projects, snow and ice treatment and removal, and preparing routine records and reports.

Schedule : Monday - Friday; 7 : 00am - 3 : 30pm (40 hours / week)
More about the Division The Water, Sewer, and Drains Division operates and maintains the Town's water system, including supply, storage, treatment, distribution, and metering; maintains the storm drain system, including compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES); and maintains and cleans the sewer collection system.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Operation of light and heavy motorized and hydraulic equipment such as heavy trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, tractors, jet trucks, vactor trucks, CCTV truck.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair to equipment, perform inspections on departmental vehicles and equipment, maintain equipment logs and reports, and oversee and / or support various operations.
- Assist in installing, repairing, and maintaining sewer pipes, water mains, storm drainpipes, services, and hydrants; cleaning storm sewers, catch basins, culverts, and associated piping and structures.
- Act as a lead person on a work crew; prepare routine records, logs, and reports; assist outside contractors engaged in construction and repair activities; assist other Town departments with repairs or other projects as required.
- Maintain work areas in a clean, safe, and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations, and endeavor to continuously improve services provided to taxpayers.
- Mandatory participation in the Snow & Ice Program, including treating roads with salt / chemical spreaders, plowing, snow hauling, and maintaining all equipment used.
