What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Maintenance Summer Seasonal position at Town of Normal, IL?
Must possess and maintain a valid Illinois driver's license
Employees are expected to be able to work a 40-hour Monday through Friday week with minimum interruption through all types of weather. Â Must be available to work some weekends, holidays and special events. Â Employment is possible from April through November. Â Regular working hours are from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm or 6:30 am to 2:30 pm. Â Earlier work shift starting times are implemented from Memorial Day through Labor Day.Assists with maintaining park grounds, and other Town properties that include athletic fields, walking trails, playgrounds, and tennis courts.
Assists with daily trash removal, picnic shelter and park cleaning and restroom custodial duties.
Assists with various landscape maintenance activities such as planting flowers, perennials, and shrubs, weeding, and watering landscape beds and applying hardwood mulch.
Assists with mowing activities in parks, along roadways and at other municipal properties, utilizing riding mowers, walk-behind mowers, power blowers, string trimmers and other landscape maintenance equipment.
Assists with general park and building maintenance activities such as painting, carpentry, masonry, and irrigation repairs.Must possess and maintain a valid Illinois driver's license
Must have good common sense and be able to understand and follow instructions and specifications.
Must be responsible and dependable, reporting to work at the required time and maintaining a positive attendance record.
Must be able to work outside for extended periods of time and in all kinds of weather, performing tasks that require physical strength and endurance.Previous experience in park maintenance or landscaping activities are preferred but not required. Preferred age 16 years and older.
