What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUMMER - Teen Adventure Camp Staff position at Town of Normal?
Counselors work eight to nine-hour days at the Community Activity Center (camp’s main hub), swimming pool, in parks and on field trips. Counselors are very interactive with teens and on the go all day long. Counselors will work in a group-team building environment. This is a summer position beginning in early June to early August. Camp runs nine consecutive weeks.
Teen Adventure Camp runs Mon-Thurs between 9-5pm from June 2 - July 31
-Assist with planning daily activities and field trips
-Participate in all camp activities. Examples: kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, challenge courses, scavenger hunts, team competitions, etc.
-Interact with teens when they are in activities outside and in the swimming pool
-Take daily attendance and daily sign out
-Assist teens with craft activities
-Assist with keeping storage areas clean and organized
-Drive a 15-passenger van on various trips
-The ability to interact well with teens age 12-15 years of age
-Enjoy working with teens and participating in outdoor activities
-Good communication skills and the ability to work well with peers and director
-Good driving record
Previous experience working in programs focused on youth and teens. Certified in CPR/AED (classes offered by NPRD as needed). Preferred age is 19 years and older.
