Position Summary
The Town of North Hampton is seeking an energetic and organized individual to serve as the Assistant Recreation Director. This position assists in planning, coordinating, and overseeing recreational programs, community events, and facility operations to ensure a vibrant and active community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing, organizing, and implementing recreational programs and events for residents of all ages.
- Oversee North Hampton Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp and After School program including serving as Director of those programs whenever necessary
- Supervise and support staff, volunteers, and seasonal employees.
- Oversee the scheduling, maintenance, and management of Dearborn Park.
- Promote community engagement through outreach and marketing efforts, including social media and local publications.
- Assist in budget preparation, grant writing, and securing sponsorships for programs and events.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations for recreational activities.
- Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and businesses to enhance community partnerships.
- Address community needs by assessing program effectiveness and gathering feedback.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sports Administration, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in recreation programming, event planning, or community engagement preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
- Ability to do physical labor including athletic and camp activities
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certified or the ability to gain those certifications
