Job Summary
SUMMARY
Performs maintenance and repair work on equipment in the wastewater treatment plants and the pumping stations.
Job Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Using electronic diagnostic equipment, traces out and repairs any process equipment to include electrical, hydraulic, heat and air conditioning and any other major repair which requires the experience of a process equipment mechanic.
- Repairs valves, electric motors, chemical feed pumps, water pumps, blowers, mixers, well pumps and other process equipment.
- Maintains the treatment plant in a neat and satisfactory manner, performs preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Has functional knowledge of the appropriate use of lock-out / tag-out safety procedures, relevant occupational hazards and standard safety precautions. Has functional knowledge of the principles of low voltage and high voltage electrical systems.
- This position is considered "essential personnel" and must report even during storm events and other town emergencies.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with the vocational training in industrial maintenance; practical experience in industrial process equipment repair.
LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Supplemental Information
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to operate electronic and mechanical testing equipment normally used by process mechanics; to rebuild and repair parts and systems.
