Seasonal Worker
Public Works
Nature of Work
This is a hands-on position responsible for helping to maintain the Town’s park and streetscape system and also to provide support to the Public Work’s Department operations and maintenance.
Examples of Duties
1. Follow safe work practices and observe safety rules and precautions.
2. Drive light trucks and dump trucks and operate other construction equipment.
3. Safely and effectively use a wide variety of hand and power tools to clean, repair and/or maintain Town streets, parks and facilities.
4. Assist other staff with the repair and/or replacement of sewer mains and services.
5. Assist with proper tree, plant, flower and soil care by trimming, mowing, weeding, and mulching.
6. Assist in moving and installing park and recreational equipment.
7. Follow applicable laws and regulations for maintenance service activities.
8. Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work.

9. Perform heavy physical labor.
10. Exercise sound judgment within general procedural guidelines.
11. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
12. Analyze problems, evaluate alternative solutions and recommend effective courses of action.
13. Seasonal employees who work out of the Public Works Department are required to obtain Flagger Certification training.
