This is semi-skilled work in the operation of irrigation systems, repairs and Integrated Pest Management. The employee in this class is responsible for the safe mixing and application of pesticides, fertilizers, soil amendments and maintenance of the Town-wide irrigation systems, water management, oversight of personnel assigned to the task, and the performance of other manual labor tasks as assigned.
- Operates Town motorized equipment as assigned.
- Responsible for the safe mixing and application of pesticides, and fertilizers in Town-owned parks, rights-of-way, and other areas as assigned.
- Responsible for applications through “Green Industry Best Management Practices”.
- Responsible for the supervision of all employees and contractors assigned to areas of direct responsibility.
- Communicates in a timely manner through phone, text messages and email with Town staff and contractors.
- Maintains the Town-wide irrigation system, adjusting sprinkler heads, trouble-shooting problems including electrical, hydraulic valves, and solar systems.
- Pest and disease identification and treatments in Town-owned areas as directed.
- Irrigation water management for all Town-owned facilities.
- At least five (5) years of work experience in ground maintenance and knowledge of irrigation systems, identification of plant, turf and palm diseases.
- Must possess a class “E” driver’s license.
- Florida Chapter 487 RUP license is required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- GI-BMP certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Some supervisory experience is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in the use of chemicals
- Extensive knowledge of irrigation systems with the ability to install, maintain and trouble-shoot irrigation systems.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to maintain records and create reports.
- Ability to effectively train, supervise and evaluate subordinate personnel while directing the completion of projects in a professional, effective, and timely manner.
- Strong public and employee relations skills and ability to maintain positive, friendly, and professional environment at all times.
Salary : $44,910 - $71,890
