Laborer (Parks)

Position Summary:

The Town of Penfield is seeking a dedicated team player to fill a full-time Laborer position in the Town’s Department of Public Works, Parks Division. This role is an entry-level position involving a variety of routine heavy and light manual labor tasks. Laborers work collaboratively with Parks staff, other Town staff members, residents and visitors.

Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to assist the Town of Penfield by ensuring our Parks and other Town properties remain safe and well maintained for residents and visitors year-round.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

· Garden maintenance including mulching, weeding and edging

· Athletic field maintenance and grooming

· Tree trimming and removal

· Winter parking lot and sidewalk salting and snow removal

· Routine maintenance of grounds equipment

· Assisting with Town celebrations including Independence Day

Preferred Experience:

· Landscaping including use of various equipment

· Ability to differentiate plant, tree and shrub species

· Candidates are to have a clean, valid driver’s license – Class B preferred

Skills and Abilities:

· Ability to follow oral and written directions

· Ability to work in inclement weather conditions (heat and cold)

· Ability to work in a team environment

· Good knowledge of hand and landscaping tools and equipment

· Good communication skills

· Health and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position

Pay: $23.66 - $25.56 per hour

Experience:

• Landscaping: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• NYS Driver License (Required)
