What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Parts Specialist position at Town of Queen Creek?
The schedule for this position will be Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a 1/2 hour lunch and Friday from 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with a 1/2 hour lunch.
JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Positions assigned to this class are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the automotive and heavy equipment parts storeroom and supply inventory.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a fully qualified, experienced level administrative classification in the management support and analysis job family. Incumbent(s) performs the full range of support duties under general supervision. Classification requires solid knowledge of transactional and/or work standards for completing tasks and assignments of a varied nature. Work may vary from basic to more complex duties and issues but are generally within expected parameters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the Town’s needs.
- Perform physical inventories of automotive equipment and other related repair parts and supplies to reconcile physical count with inventory records; identifies excess and obsolete items;
- Operates a personal computer and related software to prepare work orders, documents, spreadsheets, email and reports; communicates professionally, both orally and in writing with the public, vendors and other employees.
- Orders parts from vendors including negotiating best price with vendors; evaluates and maintains inventory on items that are of high frequency demand;
- Maintains parts and supply databases by inputting additions, deletions, and corrections;
- Examines and inspects stock items for wear and defects; recommends disposal methods
- and maintains disposal records;
- Issues and distributes materials, products, parts, and supplies to Town employees based on incoming parts requisitions; ensures proper accounting and invoicing of all parts;
- Returns defective, miss-labeled, or damaged parts immediately for credit and maintains a systematic process for maximizing all return options under warranty;
- Oversees multiple parts vendor accounts;
- Assist with tracking and reporting repair and operating costs;
- Maintains a neat and orderly workstation and stockroom;
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (at job entry)
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience in overseeing automotive and heavy equipment parts and supplies and inventory systems and reports; researching and procuring specific automotive and heavy equipment parts; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License;
- Forklift Operator Certificate within 6 months of hire or promotion date;
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
KNOWLEDGE
- Automotive and heavy equipment parts and supplies;
- Standard office equipment including the computer and programs relevant to the performance of applicable duties and responsibilities;
- Customer service principles.
